Feeling My Influences

An Oprah inspirational blog post, “Go Beyond The Secret,” describes the purpose of a vision board as “You have to keep your goals clear and keep them in front of you. That’s what this vision board does for me. “

At www.makeavisionboard.com, one of the purposes of a vision board is described as keeping yourself focused, noting that

It isn’t difficult to start each day with a positive attitude – until you get out of bed. How quickly that fresh “new me” attitude can sink back into oblivion beneath the tasks and challenges of everyday life. How can you possibly remain focused on any goal while people and circumstances constantly pull you in dozens of directions at once? By using a vision board, of course! No matter what happens during your day, your vision board is a constant reminder of where you intend to be. Appealing to you on both conscious and subconscious levels, a vision board can work wonders toward keeping your mind focused on your goal, your attention on your intentions, and your life headed in the direction you choose.”
When I make a vision board, it’s to support the changes I want, and to put into visualization the way I want my life to look.  The vision board normally reflects a shift in influences for me.  So my first step is to consider what’s impacting and influencing my life.

We’re easily influenced by what we expose ourselves to, be it movies, music, media, books, conversations or even people.

I’ve learned to pay closer attention to these influences, especially when I’m focused on accomplishing a goal or striving for a change.

For me, using a vision board brings this process to a visual, tactile existence.

What are your motivations for and experiences with making a vision board?  I’d love to hear about it, and can’t wait to read your comments.
